Shocking

Ok, so I can't possibly understand how anything good can from this. The Toronto District School Board has voted to have 'Afrocentric' schools. Basically they are going to have black only schools. They believe this will help them to be able to target problems they have with black students dropping out. By giving them an alternative education it will help "struggling black students". This is a load of rubbish in my opinion. How on earth is segregating students going to help anybody?! Isn't this undoing all of the work that people have been doing, striving for equality for all??? Why do we refuse to learn from history? Why is race still even an issue? How can this happen in a country so culturally diverse as Canada? Does this mean every race, the Asians, the British, the Polish, the Germans, the Mexicans will get their own schools with education specifically for them? By segregating ourselves aren't we allowing racism to grow instead of learning to embrace and appreciate each others races and cultures? Why would anyone want their tax money going towards funding a program that will create more issues than solve them. Why not deal with the issue in the schools we have now and help every student to reach their potential. How will grouping all of those of a different race together help eliminate a problem? Is it just me? Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else?!?!?!?!
