Easter Traditions

So this is the first year that our kids (well Paige at least, Sloan just copies) have been old enough for us to start making a few family traditions.  Our first one, is that on the morning of General Conference we have crepes.  The second one is Easter.

On Easter Sunday we had dinner at Ryan's parents.  There was  no time for an easter egg hunt but after everyone had eaten, kids had had baths and were in pjs we sat down together and our friends had made us "12 eggs about Easter".  In each of the twelve eggs there was a scripture and an item that correlated.  We sat together as families and friends and read the Easter story together and the girls loved seeing what was inside each egg.

On the Monday for family home evening we made "Ressurection rolls".  Whilst making them we talked about the Easter story and then whilst they were baking (only 10mins) we watched the new video the church put out (it worked perfectly at eight minutes long!) about the Resurrection.  It was so great to be able to talk about the Saviour with our children, to start teaching them the importance of this event and that it means we can all live together as a family again.  This is how the rolls work:

Crescent rolls - the cloth to wrap the Saviour's body
Marshmellow - Jesus's body
Melted Butter and cinnamon/sugar mix - the oils and spices to anoint the body of Jesus
Oven - tomb

You dip the marshmallow in the butter and then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mix.  You then wrap it in the crescent roll and bake it in the oven.  When it's cooked the marshmallow has disappeared, just like when the Saviours body was no longer in the tomb.
